Top 10 housebuilder Keepmoat is celebrating the completion of the Primrose Lodge development on Goscote Lane in Walsall, through a successful partnership with long term placeshaper and social landlord whg.

Marking a major milestone in the wider regeneration of the area, Keepmoat worked with whg, to create 407 high-quality homes, transforming 29 acres of land into a vibrant new community. The site includes 126 affordable rent homes.

Primrose Lodge forms part of the larger Goscote regeneration programme, led by whg in partnership with Walsall Council, the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and Homes England. Together, the programme has seen nearly 1,000 new homes built across Goscote over the past 15 years, with Keepmoat delivering 819 of them.

Rebecca Bennett Casserly, Corporate Director of Development at whg, said: “The completion of Primrose Lodge is another important step in the transformation of Goscote.

“Our vision has always been to create high-quality, mixed-tenure homes surrounded by green spaces and play areas where families can thrive. Working with Keepmoat and our wider partners, we’ve been able to deliver real, lasting change for

this community.”

Through the activity at Primrose Lodge, 14 apprenticeship opportunities and 30 jobs were created across groundwork, scaffolding, bricklaying, plumbing, joining, carpentry and roofing roles.

Shaun Fielding Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat, West Midlands, added: “The Keepmoat team is delighted to complete the last few sales at Primrose Lodge and breathe new life into the area.

“It’s been a pleasure to deliver this project in partnership with whg and Walsall Council to invest in a new community. At Keepmoat, our goal is to build more than just houses, we are committed to regenerating areas sustainably and creating communities where people want to live.”

The housebuilder has also invested in establishing connections to the wider area and creating a green open space featuring a play area for residents. Olabimpe Maria Omonogun moved into her Keepmoat home at Primrose Lodge with her husband and children in May.

She said: “The buying process was smooth, and we had all the support we needed. From the moment I saw the kitchen, I was in love – it had every detail I hoped for!

“Moving from a cold house, the warmth and coziness of our new home has been incredible, our energy bills have reduced too. I recommend Keepmoat to anyone who’s looking for a new home, my family truly loves this house!”

Since the demolition of hundreds of homes that were no longer fit for purpose, new housing, play areas, footpaths and green open spaces have been created, making Goscote one of the most significant housing regeneration projects ever seen in Walsall.

Andy Mason, Divisional Chair at Keepmoat added: “It’s been a pleasure to work with the team at whg on this monumental project. As a partnership housebuilder, it’s a particularly proud moment to see the hard work and effort of two organisations come together to deliver a multi tenure, sustainable development.”

Keepmoat is a leading partnership home builder, focussed on first time buyers, providing high quality homes throughout the UK that transform communities and improve the lives of local people.
