Zoe Price has been appointed managing director of Mace Consult’s Europe arm, Building can reveal.

The former ISG chief executive has kept a low-profile since the £2bn contractor went into administration.

But Price, who was in charge of ISG for around seven months before its collapse, re-enters the spotlight when she starts her new job today.

Price joined ISG in 2016, later becoming chief operating officer of its construction business in 2019 and then taking on the same role at group level three years later. She took on the top job in February last year after Matt Blowers left.

For much of the past year, Price, who also previously worked for Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon, has been working as a consultant.

Europe is Mace Consult’s biggest business by headcount with, according to its last annual report, close to 3,000 staff on its books.

Previous Europe managing director Andy Beard has moved to become boss of infrastructure at the division and will report into Price. Mace said he “will concentrate on driving market growth, and Mace Consult’s position as a pure-play programme delivery consultancy for major projects”.

The Europe business includes the UK and it is understood Price, who will report to Consult’s chief executive Davendra Dabasia, will be based at Mace’s office in Moorgate.

Dabasia said: “Zoe has valuable operational and delivery expertise and is set to apply this knowledge and experience to drive positive outcomes for clients across all markets and service lines in our Europe hub.

“Her appointment is an early yet significant step as Mace Consult looks to an ambitious future as a stand-alone leading global delivery consultancy.”

Price added: “I look forward to working with our talented teams across Europe to expand our footprint and deliver programmes that benefit communities across the hub.”

Another new joiner is Rachael Saville who arrival earlier this month from Arcadis as the programme and project management service lead for Europe.

Consult is in the process of being sold to Goldman Sachs with Price’s arrival understood to have been signed off by the US bank.

Mace had been expecting the sale of its Consult business to Goldman Sachs that was announced in the summer, to be wrapped up by the end of the year. But it is understood this has now slipped into next year with the deal expected to be concluded by the end of the first quarter.

No financial details have been given but the price tag for the US bank’s 75% stake is believed to be around $1bn (£750m).
